Michael Peterson

     Michael J. Peterson, 63, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022, at his residence in La Crosse. He was born Aug. 11, 1958, in Milwaukee, the son of Barbara (Bue) and Donald Peterson.

     Michael graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1976. He became a meat cutter at a young age, where he started at Nelson’s Market in Hixton during high school. After spending nine years there, he moved on to Cub Foods for 15 years, then he worked the last 18 years at Festival Foods as a dedicated employee who loved his job. Mike enjoyed writing poetry, he was also very artistic. He was a big Green Bay Packer fan, and in his spare time he sang a little karaoke, enjoyed camping, fishing and played cards with his friends. 

     Michael is survived by his mother, Barbara; siblings Randy (Belinda) Peterson, Diana Benedict, Kathy Thomas; and many nieces, nephews and friends. 

     He is preceded in death by his father, Donald and brother Donald “Joey.”

     Funeral services for Mike will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home in Hixton with Rev. Terry Marg officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Trinity Rest Cemetery in Hixton following the service.

     The Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
