Marlene Skaar

     Marlene E. Skaar, 64, of rural Hixton passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022, at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born Jan. 21, 1958, in Grand Rapids, MN, the twin daughter of Cecilia (Gangl) and George LaBar.

     Marlene graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1976 and soon after, married the love of her life, Clifton “Chip” Skaar April 30, 1977, at the Methodist Church in Hixton. Together, they raised their children in rural Hixton. She went on to school to earn a nursing degree at Western Wisconsin Technical Institute and worked as a registered nurse for 42 years at Black River Falls Hospital. Marlene loved to spend time at the family cabin up north in Ino, where she picked morel mushrooms - making great soups with them. She enjoyed playing the lotto and scratch-off tickets, which she was lucky at many times. But mostly, she treasured her time with family, especially the grandchildren, which were her pride and joy. 

     Marlene is survived by her husband of nearly 45 years, Chip; son Tyler (Allison) Skaar; daughter Trisha (Trevor) Hegg; three grandsons, Cole, Ethan and Logan; one great-granddaughter, Hazel; three sisters, Helen (Richard) Lorenz, Louise Elston, twin sister Charlene (Roger) Moe; and her two lil buddies, Teddy and Louise.  

     She is preceded in death by her parents; two children, Trevor Lyle Skaar and Lucas Bradley Skaar; sister Shirley Bonneville; brothers Everett and Eddie Mike LaBar; and two brothers-in-law, Hugh Elston and Ben Bonneville.

     A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2022, at the Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home in Hixton with Rev. Terry Marg officiating. Family and friends may gather for a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Trinity Rest Cemetery following the service.

     The Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
