Emily Halverson

     Emily Jane Halverson, 85, passed away May 11, 2022, peacefully at The Lodge at Whispering Pines in Plover with family at her side. She was born July 24, 1936, to Kenneth and Cecelia (Gardner) Oyer in Milwaukee. 

     Emily earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from UW-Oshkosh and spent her career as a teacher. Over her 34 years at Forrest Street Elementary teaching kindergarten, she touched the lives of many.  Her hobby and greatest love in life was her family. She also loved to travel. 

     She is survived by her children, Karen (John) Gaier, Jim (Connie) Halverson and Ann (Kurt) Farrenkopf; grandchildren Sara Gaier, Michael (Shannon) Gaier, Steve Farrenkopf (Holly), Hanna Halverson, Katie Madsen (Jacob), Ben Halverson, Daniel Farrenkopf (Jamie) and Donald Halverson; and nine great-grandchildren, Maci, Blake, Jordyn, Gordon, Gerald, Grady, Annie, Ruth and Ruby.  

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Cecelia; her sisters, Mary Krasemann and Jean Rondeau; and her loving husband, Don Halverson. 

     Services for Emily will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2022, at Torgerson Funeral Home with Pastor Jenny Hatleli officiating. Burial will take place following the service at Riverside Cemetery.  Friends and family are invited for visitation from 12 p.m. until the time of service.  

     In lieu of flowers and monetary gifts, donations can be donated to the Whispering Pines Lodge Assisted Living Home.

     The Torgerson Funeral Home of Black River Falls is assisting the family with arrangements.
