DANNY ABBOTT

     Danny Eugene Abbott, 69, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family and caregivers from St. Croix Hospice.

     Danny was born in Beloit, WI, Oct. 10, 1953, to Robert and Barbara (Bunde) Abbott. Danny was a hard worker his whole life; starting with Granny Cheese in Friendship, WI, then working as a lumberjack/hauler in the pulping industry and finally as a porter/floater for Burger King.

     Danny was a family man, and on Oct. 8, 1988, he was joined in marriage with the love of his life, Tina Marie Callender. Danny also loved his Lord and started each day with his Bible readings. He was a selfless man who would give you the shirt off his back. He especially loved when the grandkids would come visit and spend time at Grandpa’s house because that meant he could grill barbecue wings for everyone, and it had to be Sweet Baby Ray’s, along with fresh vegetables from his own gardens; both vegetables mostly, but some flowers like geraniums that Danny and Tina tended to together. Tina and Danny also did plastic canvas crafts together as well. His favorite escapes were fishing first, then hunting and then camping, and if you got an invite to go fishing in the morning, you best be packed and ready to go the night before and set your alarm or you just might miss that early morning car ride.

     Surviving Danny are his wife, Tina; his son, Chris Callender-Abbott; his grandchildren, Gabriella Abbott-Quail, C.J. Callender, Trevor Callender, Analise DeGrace, Ebony Murray, Justin Moore and A.J. Callender-Koch; his siblings, Robert Jr., (Karen) Abbott, Terry (Barb) Abbott, Geraldine Conkol, Brenda Abbott, Linda (Francis) Laver and Timothy Abbott; and brother-in-law Nelson Rolon, as well as countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

     Danny was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Harold (Cecelia Stukel) Callender; his son, Danny Jr. “DJ” Abbott and daughter, Melissa Abbott; his sister, Judy Rolon; sister-in-law Sarah Abbott; brother-in-law Arnie Konkel; and nephew Mark Abbott.

     A funeral service for Danny was held Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, at noon at the Buswell Funeral Home, 106 S. Second St., in Black River Falls, WI. Pastor Kenneth Jordan officiated, with burial immediately following the service at Riverside Cemetery in Black River Falls. Friends called on the family during a visitation at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 11 to noon. A reception for continued sharing followed the burial at the family home.
