GARY O’BRIEN
Gary Dean O’Brien, 86, of Blaine, MN, gracefully departed this world Nov. 28, 2023. Born in 1937 in Black River Falls, WI, Gary’s journey was marked by dedication and service.
Following his graduation from Black River Falls High School, Gary enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for four honorable years before embarking on a longstanding career at Graco, where he devoted himself for 34 years.
In February 1962, Gary married Elizabeth (Betty) Capaul from Alma Center, WI. Initially residing in La Crosse, WI, for one year, they later moved to Minnesota. Together, they shared a passion for travel, spending numerous winters in Arizona.
Gary, an avid woodworker, enjoyed his time in the woodshop, relished watching old black and white western movies and found pleasure in shopping. Engaging in heartfelt conversations with longtime friends from Graco and neighbors brought him joy.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 61 years, Betty Capaul O’Brien; devoted daughter, Beth (Pete) Feldstein; and adored grandchildren, Dustin (Alissa) Hoffman and Tyler Feldstein. Gary is also survived by his sister, Jean Ripp, his brother, Denny (Diane) O’Brien, and great-grandchildren Kayla and Avery.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Arlene O’Brien; his brother, David O’Brien; sister-in-law Jane O’Brien; and brother-in-law, Don Ripp.
Funeral services, including military guard honors, will be held at Kozlak-Radulovich Blaine Chapel (1385 107th Ave NE, Blaine, MN) Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023, at noon with visitation one hour prior. Interment at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Alma Center, WI, at a later date.
