ADELL OLGA (KLUMB) RUHTER
Adell Olga (Klumb) Ruhter, 102, formerly of Melrose, Wisconsin, reached her Heavenly home, March 31, 2023.
She was born in Germantown, WI, July 2, 1920. On Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, 1946, Adell married Lester Ruhter. One year later, they left Germantown to farm in Blooming Prairie, MN. After losing an infant son, Adell and Lester adopted a daughter, Connie Jo, in August of 1954. In 1956, the couple bought a farm in Melrose on West River Road. A member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Adell served as organist for over 55 years. She loved music and provided monthly entertainment with piano solos for the residents of both Pine View Care Center and Family Heritage Home in Black River Falls. At one time, Adell taught piano lessons. She sang with the Melrose Community Choir, which encompassed eight surrounding church choirs. Together they performed an Easter cantata each spring for 28 seasons.
Adell was a member of St. Paul's Ladies Aid, Women’s Legion Auxiliary, Farm Breakfast Committee, volunteer driver, historian for Jackson County rural schools (a project of Jackson County Homemakers), co-authoring a book: “The History of Jackson County Rural Schools,” and a meter reader for 35 years. She was active with the Jackson County Fair, winning blue ribbons with flower arrangements and craft entries. She was a June Dairy recipe contest participant and winner for several years. Adell advised and helped organize the Towerette Homemakers.
Survivors are a daughter, Connie (Pete) Dinger; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Adell was preceded in earthly departure by her parents, Oscar Peter and Amanda Emilia (Herrbold) Klumb; brothers Clarence (Geraldine), Ward (Drusilla) and Orville (Doris); infant sister Marie; husband of 49 years, Lester John, Joseph Ruhter; an infant son and a grandson, Cole Ruhter.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Melrose, with Pastor Chad Seybt officiating. Burial will follow at the Melrose Cemetery. Friends may call at Zwickey Funeral Homes, Melrose Chapel, Tuesday, April 4, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to service time.
