Conrad Gyle Walker

On Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, Conrad Gyle Walker passed away at Dove Nursing Home in Osseo, WI.

Conrad was born in Humbird, WI, Feb. 16, 1932, to Melvin and Rilla Walker (Woodford). On Nov. 3, 1951, he married Verna Johnson. Together they raised their daughter Jackie on their farm in Humbird.

Conrad was a dairy farmer his whole life. He loved his farm and working with his cows and especially his horses. His favorite time on the farm was the early, quiet morning when he could hear the birds waking up chirping. He enjoyed showing his horses and riding them in many parades.

Conrad will be remembered by his granddaughters for teaching them how to ride and drive horses, going on long horse rides, working in the barn with him and riding on his tractor with him; him being goofy when they beat him at card games and claiming they cheated and him being patient when they wanted to practice their hair and makeup skills on him. They also loved playing solitaire with him and will cherish memories of him teaching them how to ice skate by the culverts on his farm. However, Conrad will not be remembered as a great cook, as he was prone to burn supper when he forgot about it while watching the news.

Conrad loved his great-grandchildren. He enjoyed showing them the animals on his farm and watching them run and play with them when he was able. They will remember him sneaking them ice cream or treats, even when Mom said “no” and Papa making them laugh until they spit out their water.

Conrad is survived by his granddaughters Jamie (Ben) Christensen, De Pere, WI; Valerie (Gary) DeWitt, Holmen, WI; Jenna Gill, Alma Center, WI; his great-grandchildren, Jackie, Clark and Olivia; also, his sister, Patricia Gerber; and nieces and nephews who have been very supportive and so helpful to Conrad, which is greatly appreciated.

Conrad was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dick, wife Verna and daughter Jackie.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date.

Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
