Jessie Rae (Fisher) Bible

Jessie Rae (Fisher) Bible,  86, of Black River Falls, WI, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Meadowbrook at Black River Falls. She was born in Black River Falls June 12, 1940, to Archie and Joyce (Rand) Fisher. She grew up in Black River Falls at the Fisher Rooming House – where CCU is now.

Jessie went to grade and high school in Black River Falls and graduated in 1958. She was a cheerleader for the BRF Tiger basketball team that made it to the state tournament in 1958.

After high school, Jessie moved out to Sacramento, CA, and worked for the telephone company. On Dec. 7, 1958, she married Tom Bible in Nevada. They were married for 65 years.

Jessie lived the rest of her life in Black River Falls, where she raised her family. She was a very loving mother. She was also active in business. Jessie helped to run her parents’ store on Main Street, Fisher’s Shoe and Clothing. She and Tom would also bartend at the Long Branch Bar on weekends, which was owned by her father, Archie.

Jessie and Tom also ran the Double R Ranch, at which in the winter months you could rent a snowmobile, ski and go sledding. She took care of the warming house where you could get hot chocolate, pizza and other snacks. In the summer it was a golf driving range.

In 1981, Jessie and Tom bought a 16-acre Ocean Spray cranberry marsh. She loved inviting the public to the marsh on a Sunday in October for an open house and to give a tour and a warm lunch.

In 1990, Jessie turned the rooming house she grew up in into the Country Goose Store. She also helped her sister, Brenda, start the Wildflower Café right next door.

Jessie also loved going to auctions and looking for antiques. For many years, she was superintendent of the antique building at the Jackson County Fair.

From 1985 – 2019, Jessie and Tom lived in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. They loved to entertain friends who would come to visit them. Jessie spent the last seven years at assisted living, the Country Terrace and Meadowbrook. Her family really appreciated all of the good care she received at both places. Thank you so much!

Jessie is survived by her two sons, James Bible and Roger (Julie Dobbs) Bible, both of Black River Falls; five grandchildren, James Bible the II of Madison, Rachel (Chad) Kenyon of Bloomfield, IA, Ethan Bible of Black River Falls, Emma Bible of Dubuque, IA, and Christian (Carah Bunnell) Bible of Eau Claire; five great-grandchildren, Adrian and Tristan Bible of Black River Falls, Brekken and Wrenley Bible of Eau Claire, and Clayton Kenyon of Bloomfield, IA; and many other relatives and friends.
