Lydia Dickhaut, 85, of Chetek, died Monday, April 27, 2026, in Meadowbrook Senior Living in Chetek.
Lydia was born April 4, 1941, in the Ukraine to Friedrich and Emma (Fuhrmann) Dickhaut.
Lydia was a child immigrant along with her parents and siblings. Her father settled them on Rabbit Run Road where they built their family farm. This is where Lydia grew up and farmed with her family, took care of her parents and continued to reside until she needed help caring for herself.
Lydia was a loving daughter, sister, faithful member of The Trempleau Valley Lutheran Church, a wonderful aunt to many nieces and nephews and a caring friend of many.
Lydia worked hard and loved life and truly lived it in her own way. She took pride and joy in every day, caring for the land, her animals and gardens.
Lydia is survived by her sister, Barbara Brojakowski and her brother, Friedrich Dickhaut.
In addition to her parents, Lydia was preceded in death by two sisters, Elsa Suckut and Maria Wogh.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 11 a.m. in the Trempealeau Valley Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery both in rural Taylor. Pastor Kathy Boe will officiate.
