Mildred “Millie” Mae Olson
Mildred “Millie” Mae Olson, 96, passed away May 26, 2026, at Pine View Care Center surrounded by family. She was born Dec. 17, 1929, to Maurice and Lillian Gant in Dodgeville, WI. She graduated from Central High School of Madison, WI, in 1948. She was married to Lemoyne “Ole” Olson for 71 years before he passed in 2019. They moved to Michigan and then Minnesota before settling in Wisconsin.
Upon moving to Wisconsin, Millie discovered her passion for art and enrolling in art classes at the local high school. She has done a variety of art, from oil to acrylic paintings and the last several years diamond art. She volunteered as a Pink Lady and dedicated several years to working at Dairy Way. Millie loved to travel, play Bridge with friends and cherished moments with her children and grandchildren.
At Pine View Terrace, Millie was recognized for her beautiful hair, kind heart and signature Orange Flip lipstick. She leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity and will forever inspire those who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Thomas (Ann) Olson, James (Judy) Olson, Daniel Olson, Irene (Kevin) Hutchens and Nancy Olson; grandchildren Tony (Donna) Olson, Tinna (Brooks) Miller, Tracy (Ed Johnson) Olson, Travis (Kayla) Oppelt, Tammie (Steve) Kniess, Todd (Mandi) Olson, Trisha (Don) Rondorf, Emily Olson, Matthew Olson and Megan Olson; great-grandchildren Tori, Colin, Allie, Anna, Amber, Alivia, Emma, Andrea, Susanna, Maylene, Jordan, Chloe, Tyler, Eden and Jayden; great-great-grandchildren, Maeve, Harlen and Raelynn; sister Charlotte (Delbert) Bertroch; and lots of nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sisters, Betty Van Buren and Marian Schmalz.
We especially would like to thank Pine View Terrace for the wonderful care they provided for our mom for the last eight and a-half years. Mom loved living there and had many wonderful friends.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Black River Falls, WI, with Pastor Ken Jordan officiating. A celebration of life will follow from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Comfort Inn Hotel (Banquet Hall) in Black River Falls. Torgerson Funeral Home, Black River Falls, is assisting the family with arrangements.
