Robert Gary ”Bob” Hanson

Robert Gary ”Bob” Hanson, 78, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Mayo Health System in La Crosse, WI.

Bob was born Dec. 11, 1947 to Alvey and Cora (Olson) Hanson of Northfield. He lived a life centered on family, community and the simple joys that brought him happiness. Bob especially loved camping, fishing, and his greatest passion was cooking, something he enjoyed sharing with those around him.

A devoted sports fan, Bob cheered faithfully for the Vikings and was an enthusiastic supporter of the Brewers. His sense of community ran deep, as shown through his many years of service as a volunteer firefighter in Hixton and his involvement helping with steak feeds at the American Legion.

Bob will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his daughter, Ronda Lawton; and his grandchildren, Kandy and Stephen Lawton. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvey and Cora Hanson; wife La Verna (Hooker) Hanson; and siblings Harvey Hanson and

Richard Hanson.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held May 2, 2026, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Hixton American Legion Hall, with lunch served following.
