RUTH JACOBSON
Ruth (Seeliger) Jacobson, 86, of Alma Center, WI, passed away peacefully Dec. 15, 2022, after a brief stay at Grandview Care Center in Blair, WI. Ruth was born on March 10,1936, in Berglund MI, daughter of Pastor William and Ruth (Lorenz) Seeliger. The family lived in the UP of Michigan and Northern Wisconsin until 1948 when they moved from Mattoon, WI, to Alma Center. In 1952 the family moved to Lincoln, KS, where she graduated from high school but always considered herself a member of the Alma Center-Humbird-Merrillan (ACHM) Lincoln High School Class of 1954 as well. After graduation she attended three months of business college in Omaha, NE, and then moved to Minneapolis with her lifelong childhood friend Patricia (Bakke) Gearing and was employed with the telephone company.
Ruth married Vernon Jacobson June 17, 1961, at Grace Lutheran Church, and they resided in Alma Center for the reminder of their lives. She was a farmer’s wife and worked part-time at the ACHM School District for several years while raising her children. She began employment with the Jackson County Forestry and Parks Department in 1978, retiring in 2002 after 24 years. In the past, Ruth served 30-plus years as Town of Garden Valley treasurer, as an ACHM School Board member and was a 60-plus year active member of Grace Lutheran Church, participating in the church choir, Ladies Aid, as treasurer and teaching Sunday school. She was an avid reader, enjoyed water aerobics with the Morning Mermaids and adored spending time with her friends and family, especially her granddaughters and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Kristi (Mike) Hanson; son, Mark Jacobson; granddaughters Nicole (Luke) Thompson and Lindsey (Nick) Bradley; and great-grandchildren Stella and Griffin Thompson and Wyatt and Maddie Bradley; brother William Seeliger; in-laws Bob and Lori Jacobson, Bill and Valerie Jacobson, Alice Kleist, Barb Jacobson and Helen Banzhaf; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by husband Vernon; her parents; parents in-law Harold and Grace Jacobson; brothers-in-law Eugene Kleist, Ken Enerson, Gary Jacobson, and Marv Banzhaf; sister-in-law Margie Enerson; niece Rhonda Junge; and nephew Dan Enerson.
A service of Christian burial will be Thursday Dec. 22, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Alma Center with Pastor David Shudy officiating. Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will be at the East Lawn Cemetery in Alma Center at a later date.
