SUSAN ANN SLOWEY

     Susan Ann Slowey “Wakajasgai” 63, passed away March 13, 2023, peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones. Sue was born in Black River Falls, WI, July 26,1959, to Lawrence Truman Snowball and Ellen Rose Wilson. 

     Sue graduated from Black River Falls High School and held a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ashton University.

     Sue spent many years in Minneapolis, where she married husband Ronald Slowey Jr. on Groundhog Day in 1991, also becoming stepmother to Jill, Jeff and Yolanda. 

     On June 11, 1991, Sue had her only child, Erin Agnus Annie Slowey. Sue was passionate about her role as Erin’s mother and knew the best place to raise her family was on the Indian Mission at Black River Falls, so in 1993, Sue took her family home to be with the love of her huge extended family.

     Sue, became a day care provider for children in her area, leaving a lasting impact and influence on each one of them. 

     She was known as a wonderful woman to all who called her Nani and Cuwi. The amount of love she was carrying for us all was shown in each hug and word of advice. 

     Susan is survived by her daughter, Erin Agnes Annie Slowey; stepchildren Jill Diaz, Jeff Dorr-Slowey and Yolanda Dorr-Slowey; sisters Ruth Rave, Pam Hall, Tara Tindall, Eileen Meers, Minette Snowball and Melanie Stacy; and brothers Calvin Snowball, David Snowball and George Stacy. She is further survived by grandson Brave Michael War bonnet as well as 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

     Susan was preceded in death by her mother, Ellen Rose Wilson; father Lawrence Truman Snowball; brother Lawrence Snowball Jr.; and sister Laura Lee Snake. 

     Visitation was held March 15, 2023, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. with services until 4 p.m. at the Buswell Funeral Home, 106 South 2nd Street, Black River Falls. 

            A celebration of life continued at Sue’s home, W8830 Decorah Road, BRF with music, food and good times sharing happy memories.
